“The Bread of Life”
In John chapter 6, we encounter one of the most profound declarations Jesus ever made: 'I am the bread of life.' This message challenges us to examine what we're truly seeking in our relationship with God. The crowd that followed Jesus after the miraculous feeding of the 5,000 wasn't looking for eternal life—they were looking for another free meal. How often do we approach God the same way, focused on what He can do for us today rather than who He is for eternity? Jesus patiently explains that physical bread satisfies for a moment, but He offers something infinitely greater: eternal life that never ends. The people kept asking for signs, even though they'd just witnessed incredible miracles. They wanted works they could perform to earn God's favor. But Jesus cuts through all the religious complexity with one simple truth: 'This is the work of God, that you believe on Him whom He has sent.' We weren't created just to work, pay bills, and die. We were made in God's image for eternal purposes. This life, no matter how many years we live, is just a blink compared to forever. The question isn't whether we'll live forever—we all will, somewhere. The question is whether we'll spend eternity with Jesus, the true bread of life who satisfies our deepest hunger.
